Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide pre-hospital medical care to patients of all ages.
  • Perform rapid and thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and physical examination.
  • Administer emergency medical treatment, including medication administration, airway management, cardiac resuscitation, and trauma care, according to established protocols.
  • Operate and maintain advanced medical equipment, such as defibrillators, ventilators, IV pumps, and cardiac monitors.
  • Safely and efficiently transport patients to appropriate medical facilities, monitoring their condition throughout the journey.
  • Accurately document all patient care activities, observations, and treatments in patient records.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, bystanders, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, stocking, and maintenance of ambulances and medical equipment.
  • Adhere to all local, national, and company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain and enhance skills and certifications.

Required Skills

  • Certified Paramedic (EMT-P) licensure/certification valid in Jamaica or equivalent international recognition.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a practicing Paramedic in an emergency setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound clinical judgments and decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and compassion.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and move patients and equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and experience operating emergency vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Paramedicine, Emergency Medical Services, or a related field.
  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification.
  • Experience working in a tourist-heavy environment or private medical facility.
  • Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish, German, French) is a plus.
