As a Panel Beater specialising in vehicle body repair, you will be instrumental in diagnosing and rectifying structural and cosmetic damage to our diverse fleet, ranging from luxurious passenger buses to robust haulage trucks. Key Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles to assess damage, identify repair needs, and estimate repair time and cost.
- Perform skilled body repairs, including dent removal, panel replacement, and structural corrections.
- Utilize various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, spot welding) on different materials (steel, aluminum).
- Conduct chassis and frame alignment using specialized equipment.
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, priming, and masking.
- Assemble and disassemble vehicle components, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with other technicians and workshop staff.
- Document all repair work accurately and completely.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Panel Beater or Vehicle Body Repair Technician.
- Proficiency in dent pulling, filling, and panel beating techniques.
- Expertise in various welding processes relevant to automotive repair.
- Strong understanding of vehicle construction and chassis alignment principles.
- Ability to operate and maintain body shop tools and equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer literacy for diagnostic tools and record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade test certificate or relevant vocational qualification in Panel Beating/Auto Body Repair.
