Key Responsibilities
- Prepare various surfaces (walls, ceilings, woodwork, metal) for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and priming.
- Apply paint, varnish, stain, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, ensuring even coverage and high-quality finish.
- Perform interior and exterior painting tasks on guest rooms, public areas, offices, and facility structures according to resort standards.
- Mix and match paint colors to specified shades and textures.
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality and address any imperfections or touch-ups as needed.
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures, including proper use of ladders, scaffolding, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and ensure proper storage of all painting supplies.
- Manage paint inventory, report material needs, and minimize waste.
- Collaborate effectively with the Engineering and Maintenance team and other resort departments to coordinate work schedules and minimize disruption to guests.
- Perform minor repairs to surfaces prior to painting, such as plastering, drywall patching, and caulking.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a painter with a strong portfolio of interior and exterior work.
- Excellent knowledge of painting materials, techniques, and surface preparation methods.
- Proficiency in using various painting tools and equipment, including sprayers.
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for color and aesthetics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and precautions related to painting work.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in painting or a related trade.
- Previous experience in a hotel, resort, or large commercial property setting.
- Familiarity with decorative painting techniques and special finishes.
- Basic knowledge of Spanish is an asset but not required.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and blueprints.
