Quality Construction & Maintenance Ltd. is seeking an experienced Interior & Exterior Painter to join our dynamic team in Braeton, Portmore. As a crucial member of our construction and maintenance crew, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paint, stains, and varnishes to various structures and surfaces, both indoors and outdoors. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces thoroughly for painting, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching holes, and applying primer.
- Apply paint, varnish, stain, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
- Mix and match paint colours accurately to achieve desired shades and consistency.
- Set up scaffolding, ladders, and other safety equipment correctly and safely.
- Protect surrounding areas and furniture with drop cloths and tape to prevent paint splatters.
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality, ensuring even coverage, smooth texture, and adherence to specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, disposing of waste materials properly.
- Care for and clean painting tools and equipment, ensuring their longevity and readiness for future projects.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as relevant industry regulations.
- Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and other team members regarding project progress, issues, and requirements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an interior and exterior painter.
- Demonstrable knowledge of various painting techniques and materials.
- Proficiency in surface preparation (sanding, patching, caulking, cleaning).
- Ability to operate and maintain painting tools and equipment (brushes, rollers, sprayers, ladders).
- Strong understanding of safety protocols in a construction environment.
- Excellent colour matching and aesthetic sensibilities.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform demanding tasks, including lifting and working at heights.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in painting or a related trade.
- Valid Jamaican driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Experience working on commercial and residential projects of varying scales.
