Join Gore Developments Ltd., a premier real estate developer, as a skilled Painter – Decorator, Finisher and play a pivotal role in bringing our innovative projects to life. We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced professional to join our dynamic construction team in Half Way Tree, Kingston. As a Painter – Decorator, Finisher, you will be responsible for applying coats of paint, varnish, stain, or lacquer to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, and for performing decorative finishes to achieve aesthetic and protective outcomes. Your craftsmanship will be instrumental in delivering the high-quality, polished finishes our clients expect and deserve.
This role demands not only technical expertise but also a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of color theory, and the ability to work efficiently and precisely within project timelines. You will work on a diverse range of projects, from large-scale residential developments to intricate commercial spaces, ensuring that every surface reflects our commitment to excellence. You will prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, sanding, or patching, and then apply primers, undercoats, and finish coats using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, patching, sealing, and cleaning.
- Apply primers, undercoats, and finish coats using various tools such as brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
- Mix and match paints, stains, and other finishes to achieve desired colors and textures.
- Perform decorative painting techniques, including faux finishes, stenciling, and custom designs.
- Inspect finished surfaces to ensure quality, adherence to specifications, and client satisfaction.
- Protect adjacent areas from paint splatters and spills using drop cloths and masking tape.
- Clean and maintain painting tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine project requirements.
- Adhere strictly to safety standards, building codes, and company policies.
- Estimate material quantities and communicate needs to project supervisors.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction trades and project team members.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Painter, Decorator, or Finisher in construction.
- Proficiency in surface preparation techniques (scraping, sanding, patching).
- Expertise in applying various types of paint, varnish, and decorative finishes.
- Skilled in using hand tools and power equipment related to painting (brushes, rollers, sprayers).
- Strong understanding of color theory and mixing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and environmental regulations in painting.
