Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Building/Skilled Painters to join our dynamic project teams in Abuja. As a Painter at Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, you will be instrumental in delivering the high-quality finishes that our construction and renovation projects are known for. You will be responsible for meticulously preparing various surfaces, mixing paints to achieve precise shades and textures, and applying coatings with exceptional precision and efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare various surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, priming, or sealing them to ensure optimal adhesion and finish.
- Fill cracks, holes, and joints with appropriate materials (e.g., putty, plaster) to create smooth, even surfaces.
- Mix and match paints, stains, and varnishes to exact specifications or client requirements, ensuring color consistency and quality.
- Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using a variety of tools and techniques, including brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ladders, and other working platforms safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all work areas are properly protected with drop cloths, masking tape, and other coverings to prevent paint splatter.
- Adhere strictly to all company and industry safety regulations and guidelines at all times.
- Inspect finished surfaces to ensure high-quality workmanship, addressing any imperfections or touch-ups as required.
- Estimate quantities of paint, thinners, and other materials needed for projects to minimize waste and optimize resources.
- Maintain and clean painting tools and equipment to ensure their longevity and proper functioning.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction team members to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Painter, preferably in commercial or large-scale building projects.
- Excellent knowledge of painting materials, tools, and techniques.
- Proficiency in using appropriate painting tools (brushes, rollers, spray guns, power washers, etc.).
- Strong manual dexterity with excellent balance and physical stamina to work on scaffolding, ladders, and elevated platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for color matching and aesthetic finishes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project specifications, and work orders accurately.
- Thorough understanding of safety protocols and best practices in a construction environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade test certification in Painting, Decorating, or a related field.
- Prior experience working on projects for large-scale construction firms.
- Knowledge of various types of paints and coatings, including specialized industrial finishes.
- Basic understanding of carpentry, plastering, or other related construction trades.
