Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of retail associates, fostering a high-performance culture focused on sales, service, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee all daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, visual merchandising, and inventory management.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve and exceed sales targets, profit goals, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure an exceptional customer experience by maintaining high standards of customer service, product presentation, and store cleanliness.
- Manage employee scheduling, training, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions in compliance with company policies and labor laws.
- Monitor and analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards to ensure a safe and secure shopping and working environment.
- Act as a brand ambassador, representing JCPenney with professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
- Collaborate with corporate and regional teams to implement new initiatives, promotions, and operational best practices.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues promptly and effectively, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Manage payroll, budgeting, and other financial aspects of store operations to ensure profitability.
- Oversee loss prevention efforts and inventory control measures to minimize shrink and protect company assets.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership and team management skills in a retail environment.
- Strong understanding of retail operations, including sales, merchandising, inventory, and loss prevention.
- Exceptional customer service and communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets and KPIs.
- Proficiency in retail POS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strategic thinking with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by retail demands.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Financial acumen and experience with budgeting, P&L management, and sales forecasting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Experience managing a large team (15+ associates) in a department store or similar large-format retail setting.
- Knowledge of local market trends and customer demographics in the Colorado Springs area.
- Familiarity with visual merchandising best practices for a multi-category retail environment.
- Certification in Retail Management or a related professional credential.
