Job Description
Littleton Adventist Hospital is seeking a dedicated and thorough On-site Janitor for an Evening Role to join our Environmental Services team. In this critical position, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety across our hospital facilities during evening hours. As an Evening Janitor, your efforts directly contribute to the well-being of our patients, staff, and visitors by ensuring a sterile, comfortable, and welcoming environment. This is a full-time, on-site position that requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding healthcare cleanliness protocols. You will be responsible for a wide range of cleaning tasks, operating various cleaning equipment, and managing supplies effectively. This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in their work, can operate independently, and understands the immense importance of a clean environment in a healthcare setting. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and deep cleaning tasks in patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, offices, and other designated areas according to established hospital procedures and schedules.
- Sanitize and disinfect high-touch surfaces, medical equipment, and other areas to prevent the spread of infections.
- Empty waste receptacles, transport waste to designated disposal areas, and handle biohazardous waste in compliance with hospital policies and safety regulations.
- Clean, polish, and maintain floors, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and buffing using appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer.
- Operate and maintain a variety of cleaning equipment, including floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and pressure washers, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Monitor and report any maintenance needs, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, safety guidelines, and infection control protocols.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and report shortages as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Strong attention to detail and a meticulous approach to cleaning.
- Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and pushing/pulling heavy equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently without constant supervision.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment, and their safe use.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience (6-12 months) in janitorial, custodial, or environmental services roles, preferably in a healthcare or hospitality setting.
- Familiarity with hospital-grade cleaning and disinfection procedures.
- Ability to operate various floor care equipment (buffers, scrubbers).
