Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive On-site HR Officer to join our Human Resources Department at ArtCenter College of Design. This critical role is integral to supporting our vibrant community of faculty, staff, and students by ensuring smooth HR operations and fostering a positive employee experience. The HR Officer will be a key point of contact for HR-related inquiries, assisting with various aspects of the employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and policy administration. This position requires a strong understanding of HR best practices, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to upholding the College’s values of creativity, innovation, and respect. You will play a vital role in maintaining our supportive and inclusive work environment, contributing directly to the success and well-being of our dedicated team members. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and general inquiries, providing accurate and timely information.
- Assist with the end-to-end recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, and supporting onboarding activities for new hires.
- Maintain and update employee records and HR information systems (HRIS) to ensure data accuracy and compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Support employee relations efforts by assisting with conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures in alignment with College policies and legal requirements.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave management, providing guidance to employees on eligibility and utilization.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Support HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving HR processes, enhancing employee engagement, and promoting a positive workplace culture.
- Generate HR reports and analytics as needed to support strategic HR decision-making and operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources roles.
- Proficiency in HR Information Systems (HRIS) and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
- Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
- Experience working in a higher education or non-profit environment.
- Familiarity with Workday HRIS.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
