Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations to assess patients' physical, cognitive, psychological, and sensory abilities.
  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, goals, and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, including functional activity training, therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and adaptive equipment training.
  • Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and injury prevention strategies.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and nurses.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, in-service training, and continuing education programs to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to all ethical and professional standards set forth by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and state licensing boards.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs) and students as required.

Required Skills

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current Occupational Therapy license in the state of Indiana or eligibility to obtain.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with a diverse patient population, including neurological, orthopedic, and geriatric cases.
  • Specialty certification (e.g., Certified Hand Therapist, Low Vision Specialist).
  • Experience in an academic medical center or large hospital system.
  • Fluency in additional languages beyond English.
  • Familiarity with various assessment tools and intervention techniques.
