Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic rehabilitation team at Hirslanden Klinik St. Anna in Lucerne. This role offers the flexibility of both part-time and full-time engagement, tailored to the right candidate’s availability and our departmental needs. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in helping our patients regain independence and improve their quality of life following illness, injury, or surgery. You will assess patients’ functional abilities, develop individualized treatment plans, and implement therapeutic interventions to address physical, cognitive, psychological, and social challenges. This position requires a strong understanding of occupational therapy principles, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care. You will work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with physicians, physiotherapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including functional, cognitive, and psychosocial evaluations.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to patient needs and goals.
- Provide therapeutic interventions focusing on activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental ADLs (IADLs), work, and leisure activities.
- Educate patients and their families on compensatory strategies, adaptive equipment, and home modifications.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care and seamless transitions.
- Document patient progress accurately and timely in accordance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor junior therapists, students, or therapy assistants as required.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Valid professional registration/licensure to practice Occupational Therapy in Switzerland (or eligibility to obtain).
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in a hospital or rehabilitation setting.
- Proficiency in German (B2 level or higher) and good command of English.
- Strong assessment, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and resilience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with neurological rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, or hand therapy.
- Additional certifications in specialized areas of occupational therapy.
- Fluency in additional Swiss national languages (French, Italian).
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
