As an Oando Field Operator, you will be on the front lines, directly engaging with the advanced technology and intricate processes that drive our success. Your primary responsibilities will encompass the day-to-day operation, continuous monitoring, and meticulous basic maintenance of a variety of field equipment and systems. This includes ensuring that all operations meet stringent operational targets, adhere strictly to Oando’s rigorous safety protocols, and comply with all environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and control field equipment and systems according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment, pipelines, and facilities to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions, and assist senior technicians with complex repairs.
  • Accurately record operational data, equipment readings, and maintenance activities in logs and digital systems.
  • Adhere strictly to all Oando safety regulations, environmental policies, and emergency response protocols.
  • Participate in safety meetings, drills, and training sessions to maintain a high level of safety awareness and competence.
  • Report any anomalies, equipment failures, safety hazards, or incidents promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and good housekeeping of assigned work areas and equipment.

Required Skills

  • Technical certification or diploma in an engineering-related field (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Petroleum Technology)
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Field Operator or similar role in the oil and gas or industrial sector.
  • Strong understanding of operational procedures and safety protocols in a field environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, P&IDs, and operational schematics.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail for monitoring equipment performance.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and demanding environments.
  • Commitment to working safely and fostering a safe work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Certifications in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) or specific industry safety training.
  • Experience with process control systems (DCS/SCADA) and field instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian oil and gas industry regulations.
  • Previous experience working for a major oil and gas company in Nigeria.
