Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, ensuring comfort and dignity.
- Monitor and accurately record vital signs, reporting any significant changes or concerns to the nursing staff promptly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment, strictly adhering to all infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a reassuring and comfortable atmosphere.
- Assist registered nurses with basic clinical procedures and treatments as directed and within the scope of practice.
- Accurately and efficiently document patient care activities, observations, and relevant information in accordance with unit policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with the wider healthcare team, including doctors, therapists, and other support staff, to ensure coordinated and continuous patient care.
- Respond to patient calls and requests in a timely and professional manner.
Required Skills
- Minimum 6 months of proven experience in a healthcare support role, preferably within a hospital, care home, or similar care unit setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact empathetically and effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic understanding of patient care principles, health and safety regulations, and infection control practices.
- Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and respect privacy at all times.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic with a proactive attitude.
- Competency in basic literacy and numeracy for documentation and calculations.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or an equivalent recognized qualification.
- Experience with electronic patient record (EPR) systems.
- Current First Aid certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults policies and procedures.
- Previous experience in a post-operative or rehabilitation care environment.
