Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Nurse for a challenging and rewarding role encompassing both hospital and field support. This unique position offers an unparalleled opportunity to utilize your clinical expertise in diverse settings, from providing direct patient care within our established hospital facilities in Isiro to extending vital health services to remote communities through outreach programs. As a Nurse – Hospital & Field Support, you will be instrumental in bridging the gap between urban healthcare services and the needs of underserved populations. Your responsibilities will involve a wide spectrum of nursing duties, including emergency care, maternal and child health, communicable disease management, and community health promotion. This role demands a high degree of adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and resilience, as you will often work autonomously or as part of a small, agile team in dynamic environments. You will play a critical role in patient assessment, treatment planning, medication administration, wound care, and health education. Beyond direct clinical work, you will contribute to data collection, reporting, and the implementation of public health campaigns, ensuring that our services are responsive to the evolving health landscape of the Haut-Uélé Province. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients within the hospital setting, including triage, assessment, treatment, and discharge planning.
- Participate in emergency response and critical care situations, demonstrating proficiency in advanced life support techniques.
- Conduct field health assessments, vaccinations, and public health screenings in remote communities.
- Administer medications, perform wound care, and manage various medical conditions following established protocols.
- Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment plans.
- Assist in maternal and child health programs, including prenatal care, deliveries, postnatal care, and child immunization.
- Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to health data collection and reporting for public health surveillance.
- Collaborate with local health workers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to implement health initiatives.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and maintain a safe and sterile environment.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and community health volunteers when required.
Required Skills
- Valid Nursing Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, with exposure to both hospital and community health settings.
- Proficiency in basic and advanced life support techniques.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Fluency in French and Lingala (written and spoken).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging and resource-limited environments.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in humanitarian or international development settings.
- Knowledge of local health policies and public health challenges in the DRC.
- Proficiency in local languages such as Swahili or Kituba.
