Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team, providing exceptional General & Ward Service within our Footdee facility in Aberdeen. As a Nurse with NHS Grampian, you will be instrumental in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a diverse range of patients, playing a crucial role in their recovery and well-being. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, formulate care plans, and deliver direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Administer medications safely and accurately, monitor patient responses, and manage potential adverse effects.
- Perform wound care, basic life support, and other clinical interventions as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to data protection regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, including doctors, allied health professionals, and support staff, to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide health education and support to patients and their families, promoting self-management and understanding of their condition.
- Participate in ward rounds, clinical handovers, and contribute to care planning discussions.
- Supervise junior staff and student nurses, acting as a role model and mentor.
- Identify and escalate any changes in patient condition or concerns to the appropriate senior staff.
- Engage in continuous professional development, attending training sessions and maintaining a current knowledge base of best practices in nursing.
Required Skills
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Demonstrable clinical experience in a general ward or community setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in administering medications and performing clinical procedures
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
- Commitment to person-centred care and patient safety
- Basic IT literacy for electronic patient record systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-registration experience in an acute medical or surgical ward environment
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
- Experience with electronic patient record systems (e.g., TRAKCARE)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Mentorship qualification or experience in supervising junior staff
