Job Description
St. Luke’s Hospital, Anua, is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and highly dedicated Nurse to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive nursing care within both our clinic and hospital settings, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and contributing to a positive healing environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the medical team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately documenting all actions.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient symptoms, and report changes in patient conditions to the medical doctor.
- Provide wound care, perform minor medical procedures, and assist with examinations.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential patient medical records.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies, providing immediate and appropriate interventions.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and national nursing standards and regulations.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized patient environment, including proper use and maintenance of medical equipment.
Required Skills
- Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)
- Minimum of 1 year of post-qualification clinical experience in a hospital or clinic setting
- Proven ability to assess patient needs, develop care plans, and implement nursing interventions
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and pharmacology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Proficiency in administering injections, wound dressing, and other basic nursing procedures
- Sound judgment and critical thinking skills in emergency situations
- Basic computer literacy for electronic medical record (EMR) systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc) degree
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience in specific specialties such as Accident & Emergency, Pediatrics, or Obstetrics
- Familiarity with local dialect (e.g., Ibibio, Efik) for effective patient communication
