Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Petroleum Engineer to join our dynamic team in Shasha, Alimosho. As a Petroleum Engineer at NNPC, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing oil and gas recovery processes, reservoir management, and field development planning. You will be instrumental in analyzing well performance, evaluating drilling and completion designs, and implementing advanced production technologies to maximize hydrocarbon extraction efficiently and sustainably. This position requires a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and an unwavering commitment to safety and operational excellence within the challenging yet rewarding environment of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geoscientists, drilling engineers, and production operators, to ensure the successful execution of projects from conception to production, adhering strictly to industry best practices, regulatory standards, and NNPC’s strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust reservoir simulation models to accurately predict reservoir performance and optimize production strategies, including enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques.
- Design and evaluate comprehensive well completion programs, including stimulation treatments, artificial lift systems, and well intervention strategies to maximize hydrocarbon flow.
- Monitor and meticulously analyze well performance data, identifying opportunities for production optimization, diagnosing issues, and troubleshooting operational inefficiencies.
- Conduct thorough economic evaluations and comprehensive risk assessments for proposed drilling, workover, and field development projects.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, impactful presentations, and precise technical documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate seamlessly with geologists, geophysicists, and drilling engineers to ensure integrated and holistic field development plans.
- Ensure all engineering activities strictly comply with NNPC's rigorous health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, industry regulations, and international standards.
- Stay abreast of cutting-edge technologies, emerging industry trends, and best practices in petroleum engineering to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in advanced reservoir engineering and production optimization software (e.g., Petrel, Eclipse, IPM, Pipesim, OFM).
- Strong analytical and critical problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, capable of articulating complex technical information clearly.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry-standard HSE practices, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, collaboratively, and autonomously in a complex, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Proven practical experience in field development planning, well intervention, and production surveillance.
- Solid understanding of drilling, completion, and production operations, including well testing and data interpretation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field from a reputable institution.
- Professional certification from a recognized engineering body in Nigeria (e.g., COREN) or international equivalents.
- Documented experience with unconventional resource development or deepwater operations.
- Familiarity with robust project management methodologies and tools within the oil and gas sector.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and a proven track record of mentoring and developing junior engineers.
