Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, high-quality childcare for children, including infants/toddlers/school-aged (depending on family needs).
  • Plan and execute engaging educational and recreational activities suitable for children's ages and developmental stages, fostering creativity and learning.
  • Ensure the absolute safety and well-being of children at all times, both within the home and during outings and travel.
  • Assist with children’s daily routines, including healthy meal preparation, feeding, bathing, dressing, and adherence to nap/bedtime schedules.
  • Support homework completion and educational projects, fostering a love for learning and academic success.
  • Manage children's schedules, including school drop-offs/pick-ups, extracurricular activities, playdates, and appointments.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized, and hygienic environment for the children, including their play areas, bedrooms, and shared common spaces.
  • Communicate regularly, openly, and effectively with parents regarding children's progress, activities, developmental milestones, and any concerns.
  • Prepare healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for children, accommodating any specific dietary requirements or allergies.
  • Perform light household duties directly related to children's care (e.g., children's laundry, organizing toys, tidying up after meals).
  • Be available for occasional evening, weekend, or travel support as required by the family's schedule.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion regarding all aspects of family life and household matters.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience as a Nanny, Au Pair, or professional child caregiver in a private household.
  • Demonstrated expertise in child development and the ability to plan age-appropriate activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English (both written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational abilities, proactive planning, and exceptional time management skills.
  • Patient, nurturing, compassionate, and highly responsible demeanor.
  • Ability to act independently, exercise sound judgment, and remain calm in all situations.
  • Proven ability to create a safe, engaging, stimulating, and loving environment for children.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (preferred, but not strictly mandatory if alternative transport is provided).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Legal eligibility to live and work in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or certification in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Experience working with multiple children of varying ages simultaneously.
  • Previous experience in a private family household or an expatriate family setting.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English and French, or English and Swahili).
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally with the family when required.
  • Strong culinary skills for preparing child-friendly, healthy, and diverse meals.
