Impact Marketing & Media is seeking a highly motivated Music Rights Coordinator to join our burgeoning Publishing Division in Downtown, Benton. This pivotal role will be instrumental in managing and safeguarding our clients’ and our own music assets, ensuring compliance with complex copyright laws, and facilitating the smooth licensing and exploitation of musical works.
As a Music Rights Coordinator, you will be at the nexus of creativity and compliance, working to secure, administer, and monetize music rights. Your primary responsibilities will include the accurate registration of musical compositions, tracking their usage across various platforms, negotiating licensing agreements, and liaising with performing rights organizations (PROs) and other relevant industry bodies. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the registration of musical compositions with relevant performing rights organizations (PROs), mechanical rights organizations, and international collection societies.
- Track and monitor the usage of licensed music across various media platforms, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements.
- Assist in the negotiation and drafting of music licensing agreements, synchronization licenses, master use licenses, and other related contracts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases of all musical works, copyrights, and licensing agreements.
- Review royalty statements for accuracy and ensure timely payments to rights holders.
- Research and resolve copyright infringement issues, rights disputes, and other intellectual property challenges.
- Liaise with artists, songwriters, producers, publishers, legal counsel, and external partners regarding rights clearances and inquiries.
- Stay informed about current laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to music publishing and intellectual property rights.
- Provide guidance and support to internal teams on music rights-related matters.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in music publishing, music licensing, copyright administration, or a related field.
- Demonstrable understanding of copyright law, intellectual property rights, and music publishing principles.
- Proficiency in managing and navigating performing rights organizations (PROs) such as ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and international equivalents.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, especially in database management and contract review.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly.
- Proven ability to negotiate terms and manage relationships with various stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database management software.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Entertainment Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with rights management software (e.g., Vistex, RoyaltyShare, PRS for Music's systems).
