Job Description
Studio West is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Music Production Assistant to join our dynamic Recording Department. This entry-level to early-career role offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the fast-paced and exciting world of professional audio production. As a Music Production Assistant, you will play a crucial supporting role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our recording studios. Key Responsibilities
- Assist engineers and producers with session setup and breakdown, including microphone placement, cable management, and equipment configuration.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of studio equipment, ensuring all gear is in optimal working condition.
- Prepare control rooms and live rooms for recording sessions, including sanitization, refreshment stocking, and general tidiness.
- Organize and maintain audio files, session backups, and project archives with meticulous attention to detail.
- Provide administrative support, such as scheduling, answering phones, and managing studio supplies.
- Assist with client hospitality, ensuring a comfortable and professional experience for artists and visitors.
- Learn and adhere to studio protocols, safety guidelines, and best practices in audio production.
- Observe and support recording, mixing, and mastering sessions, actively seeking opportunities to learn from experienced professionals.
- Assist with post-production tasks as needed, including minor editing, file conversion, and quality control.
- Contribute to the overall positive and productive atmosphere of the studio.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of audio recording principles, signal flow, and acoustics.
- Familiarity with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

- Knowledge of various microphone types and their applications.
- Experience with studio hardware (consoles, outboard gear, patchbays).
- Basic soldering or cable repair skills.
