Job Description
Haxton Road Studios is seeking a talented and experienced Freelance Remote Mixing Engineer to join our network of elite audio professionals. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled individual to collaborate on diverse music projects, ranging from independent artists to commercial productions, all from the convenience of your own studio. As a Freelance Remote Mixing Engineer, you will be responsible for transforming raw tracks into polished, professional-sounding mixes that captivate listeners and meet the highest industry standards. You’ll work closely with our production team and artists (often remotely) to understand their vision, interpret creative briefs, and deliver mixes that not only enhance the musicality but also bring out the emotional core of each song.

Key Responsibilities
- Receive multi-track audio files and project briefs from clients and our production team.
- Perform professional audio mixing services, including balancing levels, panning, EQ, compression, time-based effects (reverb, delay), and automation.
- Clean up tracks by removing unwanted noise, clicks, or hums, and perform vocal tuning or alignment as needed.
- Ensure mixes are sonically balanced, dynamic, and translate well across various playback systems.
- Collaborate remotely with artists and producers, incorporating feedback and revisions to achieve desired results.
- Manage project timelines efficiently, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality mixes.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Haxton Road Studios team regarding project status and any potential challenges.
- Organize and archive project files professionally upon completion.
- Stay current with the latest mixing techniques, software, and industry trends.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of professional audio mixing experience.
- Expert proficiency with industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Cubase, or Ableton Live.
- Comprehensive understanding of signal flow, gain staging, and acoustic principles.
- Advanced knowledge and application of EQ, compression, gates, saturation, and time-based effects.
- Strong ear for pitch, rhythm, and dynamics.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet strict deadlines in a remote setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interpret artistic vision.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a professional-grade home mixing setup (studio monitors, headphones, audio interface, treated room).
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal education or certification in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
