Job Description

Alphamin Resources is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and safety-conscious Mining Engineer for Site Operations to join our dynamic team in Gemena, Sud-Ubangi Province. This pivotal on-site role is integral to optimizing our regional project support and logistics operations within the broader Sud-Ubangi area, contributing to the efficient functioning of our overall DRC network. You will play a crucial role in the comprehensive planning, precise coordination, and effective execution of various site-specific engineering tasks. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and supervise site operations, ensuring compliance with all mining regulations and safety protocols.
  • Optimize mining processes, equipment utilization, and operational workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Manage project resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment, to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion of tasks.
  • Prepare detailed operational reports, production forecasts, and technical documentation for management review.
  • Collaborate with geology, logistics, and environmental teams to ensure integrated and sustainable site development.
  • Implement and monitor ground control measures, ventilation systems, and dewatering strategies as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and local workforce, fostering skill development.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans for regional site expansion or improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in mining operations, with a focus on site management.
  • Proficiency in mining software (e.g., AutoCAD, Surpac, Vulcan) for planning and design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the mining industry.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English.
  • Ability to work effectively in remote and challenging environments.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various site locations within the region.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in the Democratic Republic of Congo or other similar developing regions.
  • Proficiency in French and/or Lingala is highly advantageous.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) engagement strategies.
