Job Description

Lee Engineering and Construction Company Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mining Engineer to join our growing team in Port Harcourt. This pivotal role will focus on the technical and operational aspects of mineral extraction projects and the optimization of industrial plant processes related to resource processing. You will be instrumental in the planning, design, and supervision of mining operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance across all phases. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement detailed mine plans, including excavation sequences, haul road designs, and waste disposal strategies for various mineral extraction projects.
  • Optimize industrial plant processes for crushing, grinding, separation, and beneficiation of raw materials to maximize recovery and efficiency.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects and plant upgrades.
  • Oversee the selection, operation, and maintenance of mining equipment and industrial processing machinery.
  • Monitor and analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement in productivity, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all national and international safety, health, and environmental regulations (e.g., Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act, NEPA guidelines).
  • Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and present findings to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Collaborate with geological, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to integrate mining operations with overall project objectives.
  • Implement and manage quality control procedures for extracted materials and processed products.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and technical staff on best practices in mining and plant operations.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in mineral extraction, mine planning, or industrial plant operations.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Vulcan) and geological modeling tools.
  • Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and geological principles.
  • Experience with materials handling systems, comminution circuits, and separation technologies.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety and environmental regulations in the mining and industrial sectors.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Project management fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, or an MBA with a technical focus.
  • Professional registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
  • Experience with process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimMet).
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards for quality and environmental management.
