Job Description
Meta is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic infrastructure team in Oklahoma City. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining the scalable, reliable, and efficient cloud infrastructure that powers Meta’s diverse ecosystem of products and services, from social media platforms to AI research and the metaverse. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions for Meta’s global platforms and services.
- Automate deployment, monitoring, and operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Collaborate with engineering teams across Meta to define infrastructure requirements and provide expert guidance on cloud architecture and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on user experience.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization, performance, and cost efficiency across various Meta services.
- Contribute to the development and evolution of Meta's internal cloud platforms and tools.
- Implement and enforce security policies and best practices within the cloud environment.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support critical infrastructure and respond to incidents.
- Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the team and across the organization.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, site reliability engineering, or a similar infrastructure-focused role.
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java) for automation and system development.
- Extensive experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line tools.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, networking, and storage technologies.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible).
- Solid grasp of cloud security principles and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex production issues across various system layers.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience operating infrastructure at hyperscale, impacting billions of users.
- Familiarity with large-scale data storage and processing systems (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
- Understanding of observability tools and practices (monitoring, logging, tracing).
- Contributions to open-source projects related to cloud infrastructure.
