Job Description
First Bank of Nigeria Plc. is actively seeking a diligent, reliable, and highly motivated Messenger to join our dynamic team at our Mararaba, Abuja branch. This pivotal role involves providing essential support to our branch operations by ensuring the timely, efficient, and secure delivery and collection of critical documents, sensitive packages, and important messages both internally between departments and externally to clients and partners. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized individual with an acute sense of responsibility, excellent time management skills, and a professional demeanor, which is crucial for representing the bank’s esteemed image. You will be instrumental in maintaining the smooth flow of crucial communications and materials, directly contributing to our operational efficiency and paramount customer service delivery standards. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently deliver documents, packages, and mail to various departments, branches, and external clients within Mararaba, Abuja, and surrounding areas.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all deliveries and pick-ups, meticulously obtaining necessary signatures and ensuring proper documentation for audit trails.
- Assist with photocopying, scanning, filing, and other general office duties as required to support smooth administrative functions.
- Ensure the utmost confidentiality and security of all entrusted documents and materials at all times.
- Perform errands as requested by supervisors, including but not limited to purchasing office supplies, dropping off/picking up items from vendors, and banking transactions.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws and safety regulations while on duty, demonstrating responsible driving/riding habits.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with internal staff and external contacts, upholding the bank's reputation.
- Manage time effectively to complete all assigned tasks within designated deadlines, prioritizing urgent deliveries.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good working order of any assigned equipment or vehicle (if applicable), reporting any issues promptly.
Required Skills
- Minimum of SSCE/WASSCE Certificate or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of proven experience as a Messenger, Dispatch Rider, or similar corporate errand role.
- Good knowledge and familiarity with Mararaba, Abuja, and surrounding routes and landmarks.
- Ability to read and understand basic instructions, maps, and documents accurately.
- Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a polite and professional demeanor.
- Physical fitness and stamina to carry and deliver packages and navigate urban environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Rider's Permit/Driver's License (if operating a motorcycle or vehicle).
- Basic computer literacy for logging deliveries and simple record-keeping.
- Previous experience working in a corporate office environment or a financial institution.
- Ability to speak local languages common in Mararaba/Abuja (e.g., Hausa, Gbagyi) is a plus.
