Job Description
Are you passionate about creating visually appealing displays that capture customer attention and drive sales? Co-op Food in Kemnay is seeking a dedicated and creative Merchandiser – Product Display & Arrangement to join our dynamic on-site team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring our store environment is always vibrant, organised, and appealing, providing an exceptional shopping experience for our valued customers. You will be responsible for the meticulous planning, execution, and maintenance of product displays across various categories, adhering strictly to planograms and brand guidelines while also showcasing your flair for innovative visual merchandising.
This role goes beyond just stocking shelves; it’s about understanding customer flow, promotional strategies, and product placement to maximise visibility and sales. You will work closely with the store management team, collaborating on promotional campaigns and seasonal layouts to ensure our offerings are always fresh and exciting. Your keen eye for detail will be crucial in maintaining stock rotation, ensuring product freshness, and accurately implementing pricing and signage. You’ll be the expert in optimising shelf space, creating impactful end-cap displays, and ensuring our store truly reflects the quality and values of Co-op Food. Key Responsibilities
- Execute and maintain visually appealing product displays, ensuring adherence to company planograms and merchandising standards.
- Implement promotional setups, seasonal changes, and special event displays with precision and creativity.
- Monitor stock levels, ensuring optimal product availability, freshness, and rotation to minimise waste.
- Ensure accurate pricing, clear signage, and effective point-of-sale materials are consistently displayed.
- Collaborate with the store management team to understand sales targets, promotional calendars, and customer needs.
- Conduct regular store walks to identify merchandising opportunities, correct discrepancies, and maintain store tidiness.
- Provide feedback on product performance, display effectiveness, and competitor activities to management.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, unpacking, and organising stock in the backroom and on the sales floor.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised sales floor and backroom area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Engage with customers in a friendly and helpful manner, assisting with product location and inquiries when needed, enhancing their shopping experience.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in retail merchandising, visual display, or a similar customer-facing retail role.
- Strong understanding of visual merchandising principles and product display techniques.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently, taking initiative, and as part of a collaborative team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Physical stamina to lift, bend, stretch, and stand for extended periods, and handle merchandise up to 15kg.
- Basic computer proficiency for stock management, reporting, and accessing company guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Co-op brand guidelines or similar large retail chain merchandising standards.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and retail software.
- Formal training or certification in visual merchandising or retail operations.
- A genuine passion for food retail, community engagement, and sustainable practices.
