Are you an experienced and certified Medical Biller and Coder looking for a challenging remote opportunity within Switzerland’s leading private hospital group? Hirslanden AG is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Medical Biller and Coder to join our growing administrative team. In this fully remote role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of medical claims, maintaining strict compliance with all relevant regulations, and optimizing our revenue cycle management processes across our extensive network. Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret comprehensive medical documentation to accurately assign ICD-10-GM, TARMED, and DRG codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services.
- Prepare, submit, and meticulously track medical claims to various insurance providers and payers, ensuring absolute compliance with all local, cantonal, and national billing regulations.
- Investigate and resolve denied or rejected claims promptly, identifying root causes, processing appeals, and implementing effective corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clinical staff, patients, and insurance companies regarding complex billing inquiries, payment plans, and claim discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date, in-depth knowledge of evolving coding guidelines, regulatory changes, and industry best practices to ensure continuous compliance and efficiency.
- Perform regular, thorough audits of coded records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and full compliance with all applicable standards and guidelines.
- Assist in the development and strategic implementation of new billing and coding policies and procedures designed to optimize efficiency, maximize revenue cycle management, and enhance data quality.
- Protect patient confidentiality and adhere strictly to all data protection regulations, including the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and GDPR where applicable.
Required Skills
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or an equivalent, recognized certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in medical billing and coding, with a strong preference for experience within the Swiss healthcare system.
- Demonstrated proficiency in ICD-10-GM, TARMED, and DRG coding systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with industry-standard medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with an ability to interpret complex data.
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fully remote setting.
- Fluent in German or French (B2 or higher) and good command of English (B2 or higher) for professional communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience with Swiss-specific insurance claim submission processes and payer requirements.
- Additional certifications in medical billing, auditing, or health information management.
- Familiarity with Hirslanden's internal systems or similar large hospital group platforms.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly German, French, Italian, and English, are highly advantageous.
