Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and calibrations on a wide range of mechanical systems and equipment, including HVAC systems, pumps, motors, and automation components.
- Diagnose complex mechanical issues, troubleshoot system malfunctions, and conduct effective repairs using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Install new mechanical components, equipment, and systems according to detailed blueprints, specifications, and industry best practices.
- Conduct comprehensive testing and commissioning of equipment post-repair or installation to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with performance standards.
- Document all service, maintenance, and repair activities accurately and completely, including parts used, time spent, and problem resolutions.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA) at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians, apprentices, or clients as needed, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
- Respond to emergency service calls and breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner, minimizing downtime for critical systems.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 4 years) as a Mechanical Technician, Field Service Technician, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools, as well as specialized diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities with a systematic approach to repair.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or vocational training/certification in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS) or industrial control systems (ICS).
- Certification in specific mechanical trades (e.g., EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification, Master Plumber, Boiler Operator).
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish is a plus).
- Prior experience working in commercial, industrial, or institutional environments.
