Key Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems for naval vessels, including propulsion, auxiliary machinery, and structural components.
  • Conduct engineering calculations, simulations (e.g., FEA), and stress analysis to ensure design integrity and performance.
  • Develop detailed technical specifications, engineering drawings, reports, and documentation in accordance with industry and military standards.
  • Participate in all phases of the engineering lifecycle, from concept development and preliminary design to detailed design, testing, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, marine, and structural engineers, as well as project managers and trades personnel.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues during repair, overhaul, and modernization projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory bodies, classification societies, and quality assurance procedures (e.g., NAVSEA, ABS).
  • Provide technical support and guidance during the fabrication, installation, and testing of mechanical systems.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies, materials, and methods in mechanical and marine engineering.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and analysis.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA) and engineering analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and collaboration.
