Job Description

We are seeking an innovative and highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with extensive CAD experience to join our dynamic product development team in Saguenay, Quebec. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems for automotive applications using advanced CAD software (primarily CATIA V5/V6).
  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D engineering drawings compliant with industry standards and GD&T specifications.
  • Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses (e.g., basic FEA, stress analysis) to validate design integrity and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including styling, packaging, manufacturing, testing, and supply chain to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing technical expertise and innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including specifications, test plans, and design records.
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities, analyzing results and implementing design modifications as necessary.
  • Identify and evaluate new materials, technologies, and processes to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
  • Ensure designs adhere to safety regulations, environmental standards, and Ford's internal engineering specifications.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in mechanical design, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, specifically CATIA V5/V6.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with automotive component design, materials science, and manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, molding, casting).
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and basic FEA for design validation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in English; French language skills are a significant asset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive product development.
  • Experience with other CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Ford-specific design tools, processes, and standards.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems like Teamcenter.
  • Previous involvement in the design of vehicle body, chassis, interior, or powertrain components.
