Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanic (Auto Repairs) to join our busy and professional team in Aberdeen. As a key member of our workshop, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and performance. You will work on various makes and models, undertaking everything from routine servicing and preventative maintenance to complex fault finding and component replacement. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive vehicle diagnostics using advanced equipment to identify faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Execute a wide range of vehicle repairs, including engine, transmission, braking, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Conduct routine vehicle servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and general inspections.
- Undertake tyre fitting, balancing, and repair, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Carry out MOT pre-checks and prepare vehicles for successful MOT examinations.
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain technical issues, repair processes, and provide accurate cost estimates.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and health & safety regulations.
- Keep accurate records of all work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Stay updated with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques through continuous professional development.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high standards of service delivery.
Required Skills
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a vehicle mechanic in an automotive workshop setting.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across various vehicle systems.
- Proficiency in performing a full range of automotive repairs and servicing.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
- Valid MOT Tester qualification (Classes 4 & 7).
- Experience with a wide variety of car makes and models.
- Manufacturer-specific training or certifications.
- Experience with hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
