Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and brake inspections.
  • Repair or replace worn or defective parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and electrical components.
  • Utilize specialized diagnostic equipment and technical manuals to troubleshoot and resolve complex vehicle issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all services performed, parts used, and time spent on repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding vehicle status, required repairs, and estimated costs.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Continuously update knowledge of new vehicle technologies and repair techniques.
  • Assist in mentoring junior technicians and maintaining a clean and organized workshop.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Auto Mechanic or Service Technician
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in using automotive diagnostic equipment and tools
  • Thorough understanding of vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, brakes, suspension, etc.)
  • Ability to perform repairs efficiently and accurately
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASE certification or equivalent automotive technician certifications
  • Experience with specific vehicle brands common in Jamaica (e.g., Toyota, Honda, Nissan)
  • Associate's degree or vocational training in automotive technology
  • Customer service experience in an automotive repair setting
  • Basic computer skills for diagnostic software and record-keeping
