Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mechanic specializing in auto repair and service to join our dynamic team in Ocho Rios. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and brake inspections.
- Repair or replace worn or defective parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and electrical components.
- Utilize specialized diagnostic equipment and technical manuals to troubleshoot and resolve complex vehicle issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all services performed, parts used, and time spent on repairs.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding vehicle status, required repairs, and estimated costs.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
- Continuously update knowledge of new vehicle technologies and repair techniques.
- Assist in mentoring junior technicians and maintaining a clean and organized workshop.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Auto Mechanic or Service Technician
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in using automotive diagnostic equipment and tools
- Thorough understanding of vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, brakes, suspension, etc.)
- Ability to perform repairs efficiently and accurately
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE certification or equivalent automotive technician certifications
- Experience with specific vehicle brands common in Jamaica (e.g., Toyota, Honda, Nissan)
- Associate's degree or vocational training in automotive technology
- Customer service experience in an automotive repair setting
- Basic computer skills for diagnostic software and record-keeping
