Job Description

Safricas RDC is currently seeking experienced and highly skilled Masons specializing in building and concrete work to join our dedicated construction teams in Kinshasa. As a Mason, you will play a crucial role in laying the structural foundation and aesthetic elements of our diverse projects, ranging from commercial buildings to essential public infrastructure. We are looking for individuals who possess a meticulous eye for detail, a deep understanding of masonry principles, and a strong commitment to safety and quality craftsmanship. This position requires hands-on expertise in various masonry techniques, including bricklaying, blocklaying, stonemasonry, and precise concrete work. You will be instrumental in interpreting blueprints, preparing materials, and executing tasks to the highest industry standards, ensuring the durability and integrity of our structures. Key Responsibilities

  • Lay bricks, blocks, and other masonry materials to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, fireplaces, and other structures.
  • Mix mortar, concrete, and grout according to specified ratios and consistency.
  • Cut and trim masonry materials to size, using hand and power tools.
  • Apply and spread mortar or other mixtures to surfaces, using trowels and other hand tools.
  • Construct concrete forms, pour, spread, and smooth concrete, and finish concrete surfaces.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and dimensions.
  • Inspect masonry surfaces and structures for defects, and make necessary repairs.
  • Ensure proper alignment, spacing, and leveling of all masonry work.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality control standards on site.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, and properly care for tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate effectively with other construction team members, including carpenters, laborers, and project supervisors.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in various masonry techniques (bricklaying, blocklaying, stonemasonry).
  • Proficient in mixing and applying mortar, concrete, and grout.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret construction blueprints and drawings.
  • Skilled in using masonry tools and equipment (trowels, levels, saws, mixers, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols and practices.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of material properties and their appropriate applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a vocational training program or apprenticeship in masonry.
  • Experience working on large-scale civil engineering or commercial construction projects.
  • Certification in construction safety (e.g., OSHA, local equivalent).
  • Proficiency in French or Lingala is an advantage for effective communication on site.
