Job Description

As a Mason at M&M Construction Limited, you will be a vital part of our on-site construction crews, bringing architectural designs to life through your mastery of brickwork, blockwork, and various masonry techniques. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the structural integrity, aesthetic appeal, and overall quality of our constructions. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and construction procedures.
- Lay bricks, blocks, stones, and other masonry materials to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, paving, and other structures.
- Prepare and mix mortar, cement, and concrete to specified consistencies.
- Cut, trim, and shape masonry materials using hand and power tools.
- Inspect and correct work to ensure proper alignment, level, plumb, and square.
- Clean and prepare surfaces for masonry work, ensuring a stable and secure foundation.
- Install lintels, sills, and other structural components.
- Apply plaster, stucco, and other finishes as required.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as relevant building codes and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and cared for.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction team members, including carpenters, plumbers, and electricians, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Identify and report any potential hazards or issues on the job site to the site supervisor.
- Perform minor repair work on existing masonry structures.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in laying bricks, blocks, and various masonry units.
- Strong understanding of mortar mixing and application techniques.
- Proficiency with masonry tools and equipment (trowels, levels, chisels, saws, mixers).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in work.
- Physical strength and stamina to perform demanding manual labor, often outdoors.
- Strong adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized masonry or construction trade program.
- Certification in construction safety (e.g., OSHA, local equivalent).
- Experience with specialized masonry techniques (e.g., decorative brickwork, stone masonry).
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
