Job Description
Are you a highly skilled and passionate Marine Engineer with a keen eye for detail and a robust understanding of ship systems? AtkinsRéalis is seeking a dedicated Marine Engineer – Ship Maintenance to join our dynamic team based in Aztec West, Bristol. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the operational readiness, safety, and longevity of diverse marine vessels. Your day-to-day will involve developing comprehensive maintenance schedules, inspecting marine equipment, diagnosing mechanical and electrical failures, and supervising repair operations. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee planned maintenance systems for various marine vessels and shipboard machinery.
- Conduct thorough inspections, diagnostic testing, and fault finding on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and propulsion systems.
- Supervise and coordinate maintenance and repair activities performed by internal teams and third-party contractors.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with relevant maritime regulations (e.g., IMO, SOLAS), classification society rules, and company safety standards.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, work scopes, risk assessments, and cost estimates for maintenance projects.
- Manage spare parts inventory, procurement, and logistics to support ongoing maintenance operations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance strategies, procedures, and documentation.
- Liaise effectively with clients, vessel crew, project managers, and other engineering disciplines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in marine engineering with a focus on ship maintenance and repair.
- Strong knowledge of marine propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and shipboard electrical systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical faults.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Excellent understanding of maritime safety regulations and classification society requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- Class 1 or Class 2 Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency (CoC).
- Experience with specific vessel types (e.g., naval vessels, offshore support vessels).
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
- Proficiency in CAD software for reviewing engineering drawings.
