UPDC is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Worker to join our team at a vibrant apartment complex in Ajegunle, Apapa. This critical role is essential for ensuring our residents enjoy a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained living environment. You will be the go-to person for a wide range of repairs and preventative maintenance tasks, playing a vital role in upholding the quality and appearance of our property. From fixing leaky faucets and electrical issues to performing routine inspections and general upkeep, your work directly contributes to resident satisfaction and the longevity of our facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repairs within the apartment complex, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and appliance repair.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance inspections of common areas, building systems, and individual units to identify and address issues proactively.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests from residents and management, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical problems such as faulty switches, outlets, and light fixtures.
- Address plumbing issues including leaks, clogs, and fixture replacements.
- Carry out carpentry tasks such as repairing doors, windows, cabinets, and other wooden structures.
- Perform painting and touch-up work as needed to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the property.
- Assist with groundskeeping and exterior maintenance tasks, including trash removal, pressure washing, and ensuring clean pathways.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work performed, materials used, and time spent.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with residents and team members.
- Be available for emergency on-call duties as scheduled.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in general maintenance, repair, or a related trade (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
- Solid understanding of basic plumbing systems and ability to perform common repairs.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and ability to troubleshoot minor electrical issues safely.
- Proficiency in basic carpentry techniques and repairs.
- Ability to perform painting and drywall repairs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and fix issues efficiently.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Vocational training or relevant certifications in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or general maintenance.
- Previous experience working in an apartment complex or residential property maintenance role.
- Familiarity with local building codes and safety regulations.
