Sodexo is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic – Equipment Repair to join our dynamic facilities management team in Anderston, Glasgow. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for executing preventative maintenance programs, performing urgent repairs, and conducting thorough diagnostics on complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. You will work with a diverse range of equipment, from HVAC systems and plumbing infrastructure to production machinery and utility services. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on a variety of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment, following manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair strategies.
- Execute timely and efficient repairs on broken or malfunctioning machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to operations.
- Conduct thorough inspections of equipment and systems to identify potential issues before they escalate, proposing proactive solutions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and time spent, using our CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations (e.g., LOTO, confined space, working at height).
- Collaborate effectively with site management, operations teams, and other technicians to coordinate maintenance schedules and resolve issues.
- Order and manage spare parts and consumables, ensuring adequate stock levels for routine maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians or apprentices as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or similar role in an industrial or commercial setting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with expertise in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems and components (e.g., motors, sensors, control panels).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding and adherence to health and safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with HVAC systems, plumbing, and building management systems.
- Certification in specific equipment types or technologies (e.g., forklift operation, welding).
- Full UK Driving License.
- Experience working in a facilities management environment.
