Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on all production machinery and equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system problems with speed and accuracy, using various diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Execute repairs, overhauls, and installations of industrial equipment, ensuring adherence to safety standards, quality protocols, and operational procedures.
- Develop and implement proactive maintenance schedules and strategies to minimize unscheduled breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, including parts used, time spent, issues resolved, and future recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with production operators and supervisors to identify potential equipment issues, provide technical guidance, and ensure smooth handovers.
- Participate in the commissioning and decommissioning of new and old plant equipment, ensuring seamless integration and safe removal.
- Ensure strict compliance with all company health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices within the facility.
- Propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance, reliability, energy efficiency, and overall operational effectiveness.
- Manage and optimize spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are readily available while minimizing waste.
- Train junior technicians and production operators on proper equipment operation, routine checks, and basic maintenance practices to foster a skilled workforce.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in food production.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery (e.g., conveyors, mixers, packaging lines, PLCs).
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., COREN, NIMechE, NSE)
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of process automation and control systems (SCADA, HMI).
- Experience with specific machinery used in the food processing industry.
- Advanced diagnostic skills for complex electrical and control systems.
- Leadership experience or potential to mentor junior staff.
