Apec Training & Rebuilding is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Machine Operator to join our skilled and growing team right here in Long Ashton, Bristol. Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor various manufacturing machines, including CNC and conventional equipment, according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Perform routine quality checks on produced components to ensure they meet precise dimensional and functional requirements.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and best practices in the workshop environment.
  • Maintain accurate production records, machine logs, and quality control documentation.
  • Identify and report any machine malfunctions, production inconsistencies, or quality issues to the supervisor.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and quality teams to optimize production processes and improve product quality.
  • Ensure the workspace is clean, organized, and free from hazards at all times.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of proven experience as a Machine Operator in a manufacturing or engineering setting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine functions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers).
  • Commitment to workplace safety and following established procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift moderate weights, and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal qualification or certification in Machining, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Specific experience with CNC milling or turning machines, including G-code programming or editing.
  • Previous experience in the automotive manufacturing or engine reconditioning industry.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or 5S methodology.
  • Valid forklift operator's license.
