Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial motor vehicles (Class 1/A) for long-haul trips across designated routes.
- Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and weight distribution.
- Adhere strictly to all federal, provincial/state, and company safety regulations and procedures.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, equipment, and accessories.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, trip reports, and other required documentation, including electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, fleet managers, and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, and any issues.
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, reporting any issues promptly.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Represent Bison Transport professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 1 (or equivalent A) Commercial Driver's License.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable long-haul driving experience.
- Clean driving record (abstract/CVOR) with no major infractions.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Strong understanding of Hours of Service regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including sitting for extended periods and occasional lifting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cross-border (Canada-U.S.) operations.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification.
- FAST Card or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience with various types of trailers (e.g., dry van, reefer, flatbed).
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management systems.
- Positive attitude and a strong commitment to teamwork and safety.
