Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to join our dynamic team in North Springs, Sandy Springs. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods, materials, and equipment within BHP’s complex supply chain. The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for managing all aspects of logistics operations, from planning and scheduling to tracking and delivery, playing a pivotal role in optimizing our operational efficiency and reducing costs. You will work closely with internal departments, suppliers, carriers, and customs brokers to facilitate seamless transportation processes. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor the movement of raw materials, finished products, and equipment to and from various locations.
- Plan and optimize transportation routes, modes, and schedules to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and commercial invoices.
- Track shipments and provide regular updates on status and potential delays to relevant parties.
- Resolve logistics-related issues, discrepancies, and customer inquiries promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of logistics activities, expenditures, and inventory levels.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices in logistics management.
- Participate in vendor selection and negotiation processes for transportation services.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation management.
- Proficiency in logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Strong understanding of domestic and international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with SAP or similar large-scale ERP systems.
- Certifications in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CTL).
- Familiarity with the mining or natural resources industry logistics.
- Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies knowledge.
