Job Description

M&J Bus Inc. is seeking a dedicated Logistics Assistant to join our dynamic Transport Division in Downtown, Meriden. In this essential role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our daily transportation services. You will provide critical administrative and operational support to the logistics and dispatch team, helping to coordinate routes, manage schedules, and maintain clear communication channels. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Logistics and Dispatch teams with daily operational tasks, including route planning, scheduling adjustments, and vehicle assignments.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of driver logs, vehicle maintenance, and route changes within our internal systems.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, school administrators, and parents regarding schedule updates, delays, or special requests.
- Monitor vehicle movements and driver performance, reporting any discrepancies or issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Prepare daily reports on route completion, vehicle utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Handle incoming calls and emails, addressing inquiries and resolving minor issues efficiently and professionally.
- Support the onboarding process for new drivers by assisting with paperwork and orientation scheduling.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, as well as local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Assist with inventory management of transportation supplies and equipment.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative, logistics, or operations support role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- Previous experience in the transportation, logistics, or school bus industry.
- Familiarity with dispatch software or transportation management systems (TMS).
- Basic understanding of local geography and road networks in Meriden and surrounding areas.
