Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily dispatch schedules and assign tasks to dispatch riders efficiently, optimizing routes and delivery times.
- Oversee the proper loading and unloading of packages, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and correct documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, including waybills, manifests, and delivery confirmations using internal systems.
- Track and monitor dispatched deliveries in real-time, providing timely updates and proactively resolving any issues or delays that may arise.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, dispatch riders, and other internal departments regarding delivery status, queries, and operational challenges.
- Conduct routine checks on dispatch vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Assist in inventory management, stock taking, and general warehouse organization to maintain an efficient and orderly operational environment.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports on dispatch activities, highlighting key performance indicators, successes, and areas for continuous improvement.
- Handle customer complaints or delivery discrepancies with professionalism and escalate complex issues to senior management when necessary.
Required Skills
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities in English, with a professional demeanor.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office Suite, particularly Excel for data entry and reporting).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
- Keen attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in record-keeping and data management.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift moderately heavy packages (up to 25kg) and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience (1+ year) in a logistics, dispatch, courier, or warehouse coordination role, particularly in a high-volume environment.
- Familiarity with Lagos Island routes, traffic patterns, and general geographical knowledge of Lagos.
- Experience with logistics management software, tracking systems, or enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools.
- A valid driver's license, though not a primary requirement for this role, could be an added advantage.
