Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a company delivery vehicle, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Accurately load, unload, and deliver grocery orders and other items to designated customer locations.
- Provide exceptional customer service at every delivery point, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally.
- Handle cash or electronic payments and process returns or exchanges as required.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and manifest documentation.
- Optimize delivery routes using navigation tools to ensure efficiency and timely service.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery status or issues.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good condition of the delivery vehicle and equipment.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to product handling and customer interaction.
Required Skills
- Valid driver’s license (Class D or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy packages, up to 50 lbs, repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet delivery schedules.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in using GPS devices, navigation apps, and basic handheld technology.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar logistics role.
- Familiarity with the North Caldwell, Caldwell, and surrounding Essex County areas.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with operating a hand truck or pallet jack.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
