Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Butcher to join our team in Perrine, Twin Falls. As a Loblaw Butcher, you will be at the heart of our fresh meat department, responsible for preparing high-quality meat products that meet our exacting standards and delight our customers. This pivotal role involves more than just cutting meat; it requires a true craftsperson who understands different cuts, can expertly handle various types of meat, and is committed to upholding the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. Key Responsibilities
- Expertly cut, trim, bone, and grind various types of meat (beef, pork, poultry, lamb) according to company standards and customer requests.
- Prepare specialty meat products, including sausages, marinated meats, and prepared cuts for display.
- Ensure accurate weighing, pricing, and labeling of all meat products.
- Maintain attractive and well-stocked meat display cases, ensuring proper rotation and freshness.
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting shoppers with selections, offering cooking advice, and fulfilling custom orders.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations, including proper handling, storage, and waste disposal.
- Operate and maintain butcher shop equipment (saws, grinders, slicers) safely and efficiently.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, assisting with ordering and receiving deliveries.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and display cases regularly.
- Assist in training new team members on butchery techniques and safety protocols.
- Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Butcher or Meat Cutter.
- Demonstrable expertise in various meat cutting techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of different meat cuts, quality standards, and preparation methods.
- Strong understanding and strict adherence to food safety and sanitation principles (HACCP, USDA guidelines).
- Excellent knife handling skills and proficiency with butcher shop equipment.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service and communicate effectively.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and work in a cold environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to product quality and presentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal culinary training or specific butchery certification.
- Experience with inventory management and ordering systems.
- Previous experience in a high-volume retail or grocery setting.
- Ability to speak Spanish a plus to serve a diverse customer base.
