Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor vital signs as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks, ensuring dietary restrictions and preferences are met.
- Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and maintaining a clean and organized living environment.
- Offer companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities such as conversation, reading, or gentle exercise.
- Safely assist with mobility, transfers, and ambulation, utilizing appropriate equipment when necessary.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, or social outings.
- Monitor and report any changes in client's health, behavior, or cognitive status to the appropriate family members or care coordinators.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided and client observations.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, maintaining a safe and secure environment for the client.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable experience in a caregiving role.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written English).
- Proven ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Clean criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada or willingness to undergo the sponsorship process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate or equivalent healthcare education.
- Experience with dementia care, palliative care, or specific medical conditions.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to Toronto's diverse population.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to adapt to various home environments and client personalities.
