Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
- Administer medication reminders and assist with medication management as per care plan.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, ensuring dietary restrictions are observed.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
- Offer companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities, social interactions, and outings.
- Assist with errands, appointments, and transportation as needed.
- Monitor and report any changes in the client's health, behaviour, or well-being to the care team.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided and client progress.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Provide emotional support and ensure the client's comfort and dignity at all times.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience in caregiving, personal support, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic and patient care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (English fluency required).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proven reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments in various situations.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada or meet criteria for sponsorship.
- Clear criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) program or equivalent certification.
- Experience caring for clients with specific medical conditions (e.g., dementia, Parkinson's).
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to diverse client populations.
- Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (asset, not mandatory for all roles).
- Experience with palliative care or end-of-life support.
- Understanding of cultural sensitivities and diverse care needs.
