Job Description

Are you a budding lighting professional with an eye for detail and a passion for bringing stages and sets to life? RTNC Isiro is seeking a dedicated and energetic Lighting Assistant to join our dynamic production team in Haut-Uélé Province. As a Lighting Assistant, you will be instrumental in the physical setup, maintenance, and operation of lighting equipment for various stages and sets. Under the direct guidance and supervision of our experienced Lighting Director, you will learn the intricacies of stage illumination, from understanding complex lighting plots and designs to executing precise rigging techniques and ensuring paramount electrical safety across all productions. Your daily role will involve preparing and positioning a wide array of lighting fixtures, carefully laying and managing power and data cables, meticulously checking power supplies, and assisting with the application of color gels, gobos, and other essential accessories to achieve desired atmospheric effects. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lighting Director with the setup, rigging, and focus of various lighting fixtures for studio broadcasts, live events, and stage productions.
  • Lay, coil, and manage power and data cables, ensuring a safe and organized workspace.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance of lighting equipment, including lamps, fixtures, and accessories.
  • Assist with the placement and changing of color gels, gobos, and other lighting accessories.
  • Ensure all lighting equipment is properly powered and functioning according to technical specifications.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures related to electrical work, rigging, and stage setup.
  • Assist in the dismantling and packing of lighting equipment post-production.
  • Maintain a clean and organized lighting storage area.
  • Troubleshoot minor technical issues with lighting equipment during setup and operation.
  • Collaborate effectively with other production team members, including camera operators, sound engineers, and stage managers.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of theatrical or broadcast lighting equipment and terminology.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and lighting plots.
