Job Description
Are you a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) eager to make a significant impact in seniors’ lives? Bethany Care Society invites you to join our team in Calgary, Alberta, where you will play a pivotal role in delivering person-centered care within a supportive and dynamic environment. As an LPN with Bethany, you will be integral to our interdisciplinary team, providing direct nursing care, assessing resident health needs, and collaborating with Registered Nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to residents, including medication administration, wound care, catheter care, and other treatments as prescribed.
- Assess and monitor residents' health status, documenting observations, changes, and interventions accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (RNs, physicians, therapists, care aides) to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members, providing updates on resident conditions and fostering a trusting relationship.
- Adhere strictly to established policies, procedures, ethical guidelines, and provincial nursing standards.
- Educate residents and their families on health management and disease prevention, promoting self-care where appropriate.
- Participate in resident care conferences, shift reports, and other meetings to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for residents, identifying and reporting any potential hazards.
Required Skills
- Current active registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an LPN, preferably in a long-term care or seniors' care setting.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in medication administration and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with restorative care and palliative care principles.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards governing long-term care in Alberta.
- Additional certifications in specialized areas such as wound care or dementia care.
- Fluency in additional languages.
