Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Librarian – Information Management Specialist to join our academic office team. This pivotal role involves overseeing the acquisition, organization, and dissemination of information resources to support the university’s academic and research missions. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing both traditional and digital library collections, ensuring easy access to relevant materials for students, faculty, and researchers. You will play a key role in developing and implementing modern information management strategies, including the use of integrated library systems, digital repositories, and online databases. This position requires a proactive individual with a deep understanding of library science principles, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for supporting academic endeavors. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain both print and digital library collections, including acquisition, cataloging, and indexing.
  • Provide expert reference and research assistance to students, faculty, and staff, guiding them to relevant resources.
  • Develop and deliver information literacy programs and workshops to enhance user skills in accessing and evaluating information.
  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of integrated library systems (ILS) and other library technologies.
  • Curate and manage digital repositories, ensuring long-term access and preservation of institutional scholarly output.
  • Stay abreast of new trends and technologies in library science, information management, and academic publishing.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to identify resource needs and ensure the collection supports curriculum and research.
  • Assist with budgeting and resource allocation for library materials and services.
  • Prepare reports and statistics on library usage, collection development, and service effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of library policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or Information Science from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a librarian, preferably in an academic setting.
  • Proficiency in library management software and integrated library systems (e.g., Koha, Evergreen, Alma).
  • Strong knowledge of cataloging standards (e.g., MARC21, RDA) and classification systems (e.g., LC, DDC).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective reference and research support.
  • Experience with digital library initiatives and institutional repositories.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with open-source library software.
  • Familiarity with scholarly communication trends and open access initiatives.
  • Basic knowledge of web content management systems.
